Loops Are the New Product Skill

A loop is a product workflow with agency added. The skill is deciding where autonomy helps and where it creates risk.

The read

The loop discussion matters because it gives teams a better mental model than prompting. A useful loop has a trigger, goal, context window, allowed tools, budget, verifier, artifact, and stop condition. Without those pieces, an agent is just an expensive guesser.

So what

Product builders should learn loops because they connect product sense, systems thinking, and AI execution. A PM can use loops for backlog triage or research synthesis. A designer can use them for critique passes. An engineer can use them for QA, migrations, and test repair. The common skill is workflow design.

Use this

Start with a low-risk loop that already has a clear definition of done: broken-link checks, release-note drafts, screenshot QA, support-theme clustering, or weekly competitor scan. Keep the loop narrow, require an artifact, and make a human approve the final action.

Scored evaluation set

Write one loop spec: trigger, input sources, allowed tools, budget, verification step, output artifact, human review point, and stop condition. If any field is vague, the loop is not ready.
