Catch-up — Treat Review Comments as a Live Queue
A useful review surface keeps unresolved work visible without making humans clear stale noise.
- Copilot code review now resolves a comment during rereview when a later commit addresses its underlying feedback.
- GitHub says outstanding feedback stays open, while the review agent can use shell tools to run builds, tests, and targeted scripts.
Catch-up retrospective covering sources published 1 September–11 September 2026. This is not a backdated daily edition; it revisits a review-workflow change from that source window.
Review quality depends on attention. If fixed and open findings look the same, reviewers waste that attention on bookkeeping or miss the one concern that still matters.
Map the states in one review workflow: new, acknowledged, addressed, verified, and dismissed. Decide which transitions evidence can automate and which need a human decision. Keep the unresolved view short and auditable.

A five-state review queue for one pull request
Take one recent pull request and rewrite its review findings as a live queue. Mark the evidence needed to move each finding into addressed or dismissed.
See a worked example
Use a completed pull request as a paper exercise. Do not infer review quality from whether a thread was automatically closed.
- Finding
- Retry path can create a duplicate record / author.
- Current state
- Addressed / regression test added in the next commit.
- Human decision
- Reviewer confirms the test captures the intended idempotency rule.
Your turn
Write the specific concern and its owner.
Choose new, acknowledged, addressed, verified, or dismissed.
Name what still needs judgment.
Your draft stays in this browser. No account needed.
Automatic resolution is not proof that the fix is correct. Keep human review for ambiguous intent, product tradeoffs, and risky changes.
GitHub’s changelog directly describes comment resolution and analysis behavior; the proposed queue is an editorial application for teams to test.
Did the queue reduce stale comments without hiding a real unresolved issue?
